The Right Way for a Perfect Korean Cleansing

If you’re new to a Korean skincare routine or even if you’re a K-Beauty veteran–it’s always important to do your cleansing the right way. There’s a possibility you’ve read or heard of some of the ways to cleanse your skin, but in this article, we’re breaking down the top tips to help you easily and correctly master Korean cleansing at the beginning of your routine.

#1: Clean Hands

Before you get into the actual cleansing, it’s always a good idea to make sure that your hands are clean. So before you begin rubbing on that foaming cleanser onto your face, make sure that you’ve washed your hands especially if you were out and about all day!

#2: Choose the Right Cleanser

I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but we all have different skin types, and it’s important to choose the correct cleanser for both your skin type and your skin concerns. There are some cleansers, such as oil-based ones, that generally work on all skin types, but it’s always best to choose the correct cleanser based on your skin type. Don’t worry, we will be giving more information on skin types and the perfect cleansers for each skin type, so make sure to check back regularly.

#3: Double Cleansing

It’s very likely you’ve heard of double cleansing as it’s super popular, especially with Korean women and within the Korean beauty community. It’s important to double cleanse to remove impurities, and even more so if you wear wearing makeup all day and exposing your skin to environmental damage. Some of the more popular ways to do so include using an oil cleanser or a cleansing balm to melt off makeup.

#4: Water Temperature

It’s recommended that you actually wash off your cleanser with warmer water as opposed to colder. If you look at the directions of most cleansers, it’s very likely that they direct you to rinse them off with either room temperature or lukewarm water. Some experts might also recommend not to rinse with water that’s colder than your body temperature.

#5: How To Rub In the Product

It’s generally advised not to be too rough on your skin, much less close to the eye area as this is the thinnest part of your skin. It’ll be even better if you massaged your cleanser on with your fingers rather than your whole hand or your palm. This will make sure that you’re not applying too much pressure unto your skin, which could even cause your skin to break out! Using a Cleansing tool like Luna Foreo Brush is very useful too

#6: Weekly Scrubs

Depending on your skin type, it’s always important to use scrubs (or, basically, exfoliate) at least once a week or twice, even. This will help to remove dead skin and impurities and it will help your skin become a lot brighter and healthier!
